A month or so

Well, I’m going to have to temporarily stop putting up new strips as I’m swamped right now in schooling. I’ll likely be very busy up until the Christmas break (Dec.22nd ish or so). I might be able to pop up a strip or two in the month, but there will be no regular schedule followed. I have some things planned for late December, but until then, my apologies and check out some other comics in the mean time:

Friday Rounds: Daisies and Politics

Well here’s a blog post for  ya folks.  This will probably be a semi-regular (2 Fridays a month) or so segment.  Just a few things of interest that I’d like to get off my chest from the week.

Firstly, Pushing Daisies.  This Emmy Award winning show entered its second season this September to disheartening ratings (though this week was the highest of the season, it still pulled in only 6.29 million, ranking #4 in that slot).  I don’t have huge pull, but I’d just like to encourage anyone who hasn’t seen the show to give it a shot.  The first season was only 9 episodes long (due to writer’s strike), so it’s not a large time investment to catch up on.  In fact, on a lazy day following an early turkey-filled Thanksgiving, I caught up within 2 days and still managed to study for my midterms.  Yes, this is a  romantic comedy of sorts, but in more of a Tim Burtonesque sense.  The vibrant colours in the setting are really quite striking, and the forensic storylines that make up a significant chunk of the show are always riveting.  To give you a quick summation of the show, it’s about a pie maker who has the ability to reanimate (or ‘bring back to life’) dead things with a single touch, however if  he touches them again, they stay dead forever.  With the help of a lazy private investigator, he brings back the recently deceased and solves the cases.  His childhood sweetheart who he hasn’t seen for years is brought back to life by his touch and they try to live their lives without contact.  This show may seem overly cute, and even sound like it’s too cornball.  However, it has remarkably quick and clever wit and near perfect casting (I can’t imagine anyone else in Kristen Chenoweth’s role).  So I urge you, take a look if you’re sick of reality shows about japanese game show playing dancing monkeys.  This is coming from a straight young male as well.  It’s on ABC at 8:00pm, Wednesday nights, help make sure this show isn’t canceled before its prime like so many others.  Whereelse can you find a girl named “Chuck”?
